![]() You can remove the microSD card from the camera to transfer data to a desktop or mobile storage device. Even a 15-second clip can take up 150MB of memory, so plan ahead how you’ll shoot video from your camera or smartphone. When you stop for lunch, you can process your videos right on your smartphone. Not wanting to be a distracted rider, your passenger can change recording modes, start and stop recording, and take high-resolution photos from their smartphone. You can also use the smartphone app to fully control the operation of the Insta360 RS, including switching from photo to any of the motion capture modes. If the voice projection is loud enough, the camera will obey even with the selfie stick fully extended. In photo mode, you can give the command “Take photo”. When powered on and in video recording mode, you can simply say “Start recording” or “Stop recording” and it will execute your directive. The Insta360 RS One also accepts voice commands. When enabled, the record button will start and stop recording in record mode or take a photo in photo mode. A second quick tap stops recording and turns off the camera. A quick press of the REC button in the off state and the recording starts. One is the ON/OFF button and the other is the multi-function recording button. In addition to the touch screen with full control, the control module has two buttons that are convenient for summer gloves. You can also control the camera from your Apple Watch. A small, easy-to-navigate touch screen or an app on your smartphone can be intuitively used to set up a multitude of shooting modes. This Insta360 One RS action camera requires almost no instructions to start recording exciting 360-degree videos, 360-degree photos and wide-angle videos and stills. An AI-enhanced app that processes 360-degree videos helps you get the best views of your property. With 360 capture, it doesn’t matter what you thought you were aiming for, because you’re framing what you want to see in the post-ride editing process. If you want to use a fully extended selfie stick at a 45-degree angle on rough terrain, consider the semi-permanent clamping mechanism. Even after I put all my muscle into tightening the turnbuckle, the stick would only stay in place half way out, or no more than a little off vertical. High-speed wind on the freeway or bumps in the off-road bend the pole to the ground. When the selfie stick is fully extended, this friction mount has a lot of leverage when attaching it to roll bars or passenger pegs. The artificial intelligence built into the camera makes the selfie stick invisible, so you always feel like you have a personal camera drone watching me. Although I’ve been on the trail holding the selfie stick, I usually brace it on the front or back arches, leaning at about a 30 degree angle and fully extended about 47 inches. I plan to continue to cycle it as a video recorder and then bring it up for fun shots. The camera slots into the One RS mounting bracket, which can be attached to a helmet or mounted on a selfie stick. It’s a street action camera with a high fun quotient. Fortunately, the Insta360 One RS camera is waterproof up to 16 feet below the surface, so torrential storms won’t harm it. I found that it is impossible to close this little door properly when the camera is in the mounting case, so you have to remove the camera from the case to install the door. The cover for the USB-C port and microSD card slot is awkward to open and cumbersome to close properly for a waterproof seal. It’s powered via a USB-C port when connected to a battery or 12-volt outlet, or you can use the One RS battery base. The Insta360 One RS can be your go-to action camera, 360-degree loop video recorder, or 360-degree vlogging camera with up to 1TB of microSD card storage. The Insta360 One RS consists of three components: a touchscreen control module, a lens module (360, 4K Boost, 150-degree wide-angle lens or Leica 1-inch wide-angle lens), and a battery base that holds it all together. With an MSRP of $626, the Insta 360 One RS Twin Edition with Motorcycle Kit consists of the One RS Core Camera, 360 Lens with Lens Cap, 4K Boost Lens, 120cm Invisible Selfie Stick with One Mounting Bracket RS, One RS battery base and 64GB MicroSD card. It lives up to its impressive specs and more. We now have our hands on the Twin Edition of the Insta 360 One RS action camera along with a motorcycle kit. We reviewed Insta360 One RS in March and dived deep into the technical aspects, so we won’t repeat it here. As always, we hoped for more, and we got it in the Insta360 One RS action camera. I tested the Insta360 One X2 camera last year and I loved what it did. I couldn’t get used to holding the camera in this shape, even though I liked the feel of first-person recording. 360 cameras first hit the market in a flat form factor that I wasn’t comfortable with.
